Commercial Lines Account Manager/CSR Program
Target Audience
Hartford School of Insurance entry-level programs are designed for individuals new to the insurance industry with no previous knowledge, individuals transitioning from another segment of insurance, as well as, those individuals being promoted to a new position with limited insurance knowledge.
Program Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the Commercial Lines Account Manager program, the CSR or Account Manager will be able to:
- Effectively service new and renewal books of business,
- Gather necessary information to effectively meet customers’ needs and expectations,
- Analyze coverages and recommend appropriate coverages to carriers and insureds,
- Complete a submission,
- Document files to reduce E&O vulnerabilities,
- Effectively communicate with producers, insureds and insurance carriers.

- Workers Compensation
- General Liability
- Employment Practices Liability
- Umbrella
- Property, including Inland Marine and Crime
- Business Income
- Business owners (BOP)
Program Structure
All Entry Level Training Programs are divided into two phases:

Phase I is a highly structured curriculum, designed to be self-paced. This phase is administered in the agency with direction from a mentor. The Hartford School of Insurance will provide a detailed training plan and course materials that outline the activities and learnings to which the participant will be exposed. Please note the estimated time for completion (specific to each program) when selecting a classroom session.

Phase II is concentrated technical classroom study conducted by the school’s experienced trainers. Classroom instruction runs from 8:30 - 4:00 Monday through Friday. Class sizes are limited to an average of 18 students per session to ensure highly effective, interactive, hands on instruction.

CE Credits

Students wishing to obtain CE Credits must be licensed prior to attending the program. If you are going to pursue CE credits, please bring your License Number and Issuance Date with you. You are responsible for signing in and out on the CE Roster on a daily basis.
CE credit hours are subject to change per insurance department regulation and reviews. Only selected courses are approved in Hawaii.

Tuition
Payable at the time of registration, the cost for the Commercial Lines Account Manager Development Program is $2,695 and includes all training materials. Travel, lodging and meals are separate costs and paid by the participant. Participants are encouraged not to make travel and lodging arrangements prior to confirmation of acceptance into the program. Tuition can be paid using Master Card, Visa, American Express, electronic check, check or VIP spending account (if available).
If your primary work location is in Connecticut, you are required to add 6% Connecticut Sales tax. Connecticut provides an exception for courses which qualify for Continuing Education Credits. If you are a licensed agent, eligible to receive Continuing Education credits through attending this program and believe that you qualify for this exception, please indicate on the registration form.
Cancellation Policy
Full payment is required prior to mailing the Phase I self-study materials. Cancellation received more than 30 days prior to the start of Phase I will receive a full refund. Cancellations received less than 30 days prior to the start of Phase I will be subject to a $400 fee. The tuition will be refunded minus the fee once the Phase I materials have been returned. No refunds are provided for cancellations received at any point after the start of Phase I.
Accommodations
The participant is responsible for the cost of all travel and living accommodations. There are a number of hotels available, although Hartford School of Insurance has negotiated special room rates with a hotel in each training location. CLCS Designation
Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist Designation Program
Hartford School of Insurance is proud to partner with The National Underwriter Company to offer the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist designation program. Created with the learning needs of new insurance producers, agents, managers, CSRs and corporate staff in mind, the CLCS is the most complete professional learning program available for industry professionals seeking to master the subject of commercial lines coverage. The program was created by the staff of the renowned FC&S Bulletins.
Students completing the CLCS program have demonstrated extensive knowledge in a critical functional area of property and casualty insurance practice—insurance policy coverage—and will have applied that knowledge in real-life case study exercises.
Eligibility
One of the following qualifications is required for an individual to be eligible for the Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation:
Licensed agent, broker, adjuster, CSR or solicitor At least one year of full-time experience in the insurance industry or as a risk management practitioner Students of insurance academies authorized to confer the CLCS designation (Hartford School of Insurance).
